Underneath is stainless steel with a PVD plating in warm gold or bright polished silver, and the chain sits at 18.5" with a 2.4" extender, which lands it right at the collarbone or a little lower.

What PVD plating actually means
PVD bonds the plating into the steel rather than laying it on top like electroplate or vermeil, so it doesn't rub or flake, and the steel underneath can't rust or go green.

Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it dry. No polishing compounds — they abrade plating.
Care instructions
PVD gold is hard-wearing, but it isn't chemically inert. Keep it away from chlorinated pools and hot tubs, bleach and household cleaners, and perfume, lotion or hairspray sprayed straight onto it — put those on first, let them dry, then put the piece on.
Water on its own is fine. It's the chemicals that do the damage.
